June 2025 Bonds of Kinship Meeting with Katy Bodenhorn
Join the Family Quest Society for our end of year Bonds of Kinship luncheon. Our guest speaker will be Katy Bodenhorn. Katy Bodenhorn is a freelance genealogist and the former genealogy director for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She received a BA in Family History/Genealogy from Brigham Young University and has over a decade of experience as a genealogy researcher, helping people learn about their ancestry. Prior to HSP, Katy worked for Legacy Tree Genealogists in Salt Lake City, where she spent seven years as a senior editor and researcher across a wide range of geographic specialties. Today she is the owner of Katy Bodenhorn Genealogy Research, LLC, and a contract researcher with Price Genealogy.
Katy will be speaking about resources at HSP and elsewhere of interest to Black genealogists. The meeting will be held at the Brossman Center in the Lutheran Theological Seminary at 7301 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia. Tickets. are $30 and can be purchased by sending a check to Chapter Treasurer Sandra Barnhill, or through Zelle at fqstreasurer@gmail.com.
May 2025 Chapter Meeting

April FQS Monthly Virtual Meeting

Dr. Kirksey’s presentation will be "Mrs. Fannie Mae Bronston Postell, a graduate of Berea College and an elected Principal and Superintendent of the Colored Schools in Hopkinsville". Family Genealogical Workshop
Family Quest Society Vice President Dean Henry will be speaking at “The People’s Dispensary” program offered by the Friends of Friends of the Tanner House.. Our part is to present a 30-60 minute Family Genealogical workshop beginning at 1:30. The event is sponsored by the Strawberry Mansion Civic Association, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and the Center for Preservation of Civil Rights Sites (CPCRS) at the University of Pennsylvania. The event is being held outdoors at the Hatfield House, 3201 W. Girard Avenue in Philadelphia. QCA Health Fair
"Living Strong / Living Long" Health and Wellness Fair on April 22, 2023. Quaker City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, at Pinn Memorial Baptist Church, 2251 N 54th Street, Philadelphia, PA. The Family Quest Society Chapter of the Afro American Historical & Genealogical Society will participate in this Health and Wellness Fair, and provide information on how genealogy intersects with health awareness, and provide additional information on the benefits of membership in AAHGS and FQS.
